29-year-old woman dead in East St. Louis shooting
Police on Thursday night were investigating a shooting death in East St. Louis.
East St. Louis Police and Illinois State Police were called to a home in the 600 block of North Ninth Street at 1:52 p.m. Thursday to investigate the death of a woman.
Police confirmed they were investigating the death as a homicide, and crime-scene investigators were processing the scene Thursday night.
St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as 29-year-old Catherine Jackson. She was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m. at the North Ninth Street home, Dye said.
Jackson’s preliminary cause of death was from multiple gunshots.
