The West Main Village Market held its inaugural event at West Main and Fourth streets this week.

Organized by Lynette Linnemeier, owner of The Barkery, the event takes place on her business’ parking lot at 335 W. Main St. on Wednesdays.

Wednesday’s market included live music by Greg Milo and 11 local vendors that included:

  • Baby Cakes Bakery;
  • The Barkery;
  • Chef Lyte Catering & Charcuterie;
  • Combat Chow;
  • Easy Chair Fare;
  • First & Last Pours;
  • Luxe Paw Spa;
  • MW Farms & PL Paws;
  • Sew 1980s;
  • St. Clair TNR & Rescue;
  • Waterfall Glen Soap Company.

“I’m here to support Lynette as much as I possibly can,” said Armondo Sanders, chef and owner of Chef Lyte Catering & Charcuterie.

Home baker Monique Murray signed on with the market for the season. Her business, Baby Cakes Bakery, offers cookies, cakes, custom dessert packages and other sweet treats.

Also on the scene was Susana Martinez, whose grooming business, Luxe Paws Spa Grooming Salon, offers nail trimming and grinding, ear cleaning and plucking, teeth brushing and breath foam at the market.

Her business will open at The Barkery (335 W. Main St., Suite 4E) in June and offer services for both dogs and cats.

Food trucks will participate in future markets, starting with Takozz next week, said Linnemeier. Grandma’s Kitchen Food Truck will also be on the scene this year. Live musical talent is planned for the season, with help from Conni Tilley at Venue on Main, she said.

Linnemeier hopes more vendors will join the market, particularly those featuring produce, plants and more handmade goods.

The West Main Village Market takes place 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays in the parking lot west of The Barkery, 335 W. Main St., in Belleville. The market will operate through mid-October.
