A 20-year-old East St. Louis man and his 51-year-old mother are facing charges after he waved a gun at his ex-girlfriend from his car before the mother tried to hide the weapon in her purse, police said Friday.

Harasheo Green of East St. Louis was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bond for Green was set at $100,000.

Tasha Reed of East St. Louis is also facing weapons charges. Her bond was set at $25,000.

“Officers received a call from a female who said her ex-boyfriend was driving a black vehicle and was following her and had flashed a handgun at her,” East St. Louis Police Chief Jerry Simon said.

Simon added that officers observed the vehicle pulling away from the parking lot of East St. Louis High School.

Officers stopped the vehicle and found a handgun in Green’s purse. They were informed that Green had entered the vehicle from the school, Simon said.
