Investigators ID body found in ditch near Trenton

A 46-year-old Kentucky woman has been identified as the person whose body was found near Trenton, Illinois State Police announced Friday.

Charity M. Greene of Harlan County was positively identified late Thursday, according to a news release.

The cause of death has not been announced and investigators said the results of an autopsy are pending. The autopsy was performed on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Greene’s body was found on Aug. 28 in a ditch off the Illinois 160 on-ramp to westbound U.S. 50 near Trenton.

The identification was announced after investigators had asked for the public’s help in their effort to find out the person’s identification. Ther person was described as a white female, about 127 pounds and 5-foot-6. On Tuesday, Illinois State Police said her tattoos included:

  • The word “Charity” on her right forearm.

  • A flower, bumblebee and the word “Charity” on her left forearm.

  • A “mermaid-like figure” on her upper left arm.

  • The word “Dallas” on her lower middle back.

She was wearing jean shorts with an “American Indian style pattern” and a Trolls doll T-shirt, according to authorities.
