The Swansea Police Department announced Tuesday that officers located a 69-year-old man reported missing a day earlier.

The police department issued an alert Monday afternoon stating Willie Tanner was missing from an assisted living facility and possibly endangered.

Tanner had been seen last at the facility, Cambridge House of Swansea, according to police. The alert stated he may have been traveling to East St. Louis.

Swansea Police Chief Steve Johnson issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying Capt. CJ Beyersdorfer of the Fairview Heights Police Department found Tanner in a “tall, deep ravine covered in rock.”

“Medical personnel brought him to a local hospital where he is doing well,” Johnson wrote in the statement.
