Services set for O’Fallon hockey player fatally shot on I-55, reward increased

Funeral services have been set for the O’Fallon teenager and CBC High School hockey player who was fatally shot on Interstate 55 in St. Louis last month.

Also, CrimeStoppers announced Monday that a reward for information regarding the homicide of 16-year-old Colin John Brown has been increased to $25,000. The crime information line that offers rewards for anonymous tips can be reached at 866-371-8477.

Colin died Nov. 27, four days after being hit by a stray bullet on Nov. 23. He was riding in a car driven by his father, Calvin Brown, a retired lieutenant colonel with Illinois State Police. Investigators do not know who fired the bullet that hit Colin and no arrests have been announced.

Colin was described as “a passionate hockey enthusiast,” according to his obituary posted by Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon.

“After spending time at O’Fallon High School as a student and a member of the O’Fallon Illinois Hockey Club, Colin’s love for hockey and his strong academic performance prompted him to transfer to Christian Brothers College High School, where he excelled both academically and as a varsity hockey player,” his obituary states.

He also played hockey for the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks, the St. Louis Eagles and the Affton Americans.

The visitation for Colin will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at CBC High School at 1850 De La Salle Drive in west St. Louis County.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis at 4431 Lindell Blvd. in St. Louis.
