New Aldi grocery store in Belleville will open soon. Here’s an update from the developer
Since reporting on the Aldi grocery store coming to Belleville last December, construction really progressed.
The building at 1805 Carlyle Ave. is near its completion (and looks fantastic), and the store will soon open.
Clifford Cross, the city’s director of economic development, planning and zoning, said in a phone call that he’s heard rumblings of a February opening.
Developer Mitch Goltz of GW Properties confirmed in a separate call that the store will open in mid-February.
He said the store looks great and because a lot of people were excited about the project, his team worked hard to keep construction on track to open as quickly as possible.
The folks at Aldi are looking forward to becoming part of the Belleville community, according to Goltz.
He said they will later coordinate with the city to set a date for grand opening festivities.
Site plans for the Aldi project were approved by the city in November 2022. Construction started in early 2023.
Other Aldi stores in the area include Swansea, Fairview Heights, O’Fallon, Collinsville, Alton, Glen Carbon and Cahokia Heights.
