O’Fallon High School boys, girls cross country teams show well at recent meets

The O’Fallon Township High School boys cross country varsity team had a solid showing at the Belleville East Invitational on Friday.

The course was tough, but now the Panthers know what they need to do at the Southwestern Conference meet in two weeks on the same course. Nick Edwards finished first for OTHS with a time of 16:05, followed by Dylan Ybarra (16:50), Peyton Mueller (16:55), Eli Greenstreet (16:56), Ethan Nieroda (16:58), Blake Westrater (17:33), and Nick Novy (17:40).

On Saturday, the team ran a dual meet against the East St. Louis Flyers. The weather was cooler, making it easier to run, and 21 people set a season or personal best. Riley Eaton took 2:34 off his best time, and Ben Vorce took 2:08 off his best time.

Joel Boedecker ran the ninth fastest OTHS sophomore time in the history of the course, while AJ Doss ran the eighth fastest OTHS freshman time in the history of the course.

Ben McCoy was the individual winner. He is the fifth person on the team to win a race this fall, joining Nico Parker, Blake Westrater, Ryan Stone, and Doss.

McCoy’s time was (18:10), Logan Hartrich was second for OTHS at (18:18), followed by Garrett Roumpos (18:05), Harrison Clinton (18:07), Boedeker (18:11), Thomas Estrada (18:20) and Doss (18:36).

O’Fallon girls team knocks off East St. Louis

On Saturday the girls’ cross country team defeated East St Louis in a dual meet. The team was led by Sarah Davis, Madeline Ahlf, Sam Suchanek, Jane Dayton, and Taylor MIller.

On Friday night, the varsity competed at the Belleville East Invite. No team scores were kept and the races consisted of a combination of boys and girls. The top performers for OTHS were Sophie Moffett, who was the first girl and third overall in her race, and Peyton Schieppe, who was the second girl in her race.
