O’Fallon High School girls tennis takes 2nd at sectionals, sends 3 players to state

The O’Fallon High School girls tennis team advanced three players to the IHSA state tournament.

Megan Mueller and Ava Taylor qualified in doubles, while Kelsey Dismukes qualified in singles. At the state tournament, Dismukes and Taylor/Mueller competed hard before bowing out.

“Megan and Ava got a very tough draw — the two teams they lost to finished in the top eight in the state tournament and one of the teams got fifth place and medaled,” OTHS coach Erin Thoman said.

At sectional competition, the Panthers finished second as a team.

“Finishing second is awesome!” OTHS coach Erin Thoman said. “Megan Mueller and Ava Taylor played awesome and made it to the finals and split sets with Edwardsville in the finals. Kelsey Dismukes had a really nice win against Quincy to make it to state.

“Isabel Wells was in a great battle in her qualifying match and lost in three sets to the No. 2 seed. Analiese Reidelberger and Bela Sanghavi played a good match against the Belleville West No. 1 team. Everyone played really well and congrats to the state qualifiers!”

Overall, the Panthers finished with 18 points, while first place Edwardsville posted 28 points.

O’Fallon enjoyed an outstanding season, finishing at 14-6.
