O’Fallon High School girls tennis team knocks off Mascoutah, falls to Edwardsville

The O’Fallon girls tennis team swept both singles and doubles in their match against Mascoutah 9-0 on Sept. 9.

Mascoutah had some nice players at the top in Ella Mostoller (senior) and Amelia Hardimon (junior), so winning at those top two singles spots in a convincing fashion was a nice accomplishment.

OTHS performed well across the board.

For the Panthers, every match with Edwardsville is a battle, as the Tigers are always among the toughest teams in the state. O’Fallon gave a great overall effort and exhibited a ton of toughness but ultimately fell 1-8.

The Panthers were down only 2-1 after doubles, thanks to a great win at No. 3 from Analiese Reidelberger (freshman) and Megan Marrs (sophomore) who won the match 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 9-7. It was a terrific match from both teams, but OTHS showed amazing toughness in the big points.

In No. 1 singles, Ali Mueller (senior) played a great match against Chloe Koons (sophomore). The score did not reflect how well Mueller was hitting the ball and how competitive the points were.

Gabi Schram (senior) battled Hannah Colbert (junior) at No. 2, especially in the second set where there were several long rallies. Schram made Colbert earn every point in the highly competitive match.

Kelsey Dismukes (junior) played a strong match at No. 6. She lost 4-6, 2-6 to Morgan Marshall (senior), but it was one of Dismukes’ best matches of the year so far.

The next dual match for the O’Fallon varsity team is Wednesday, Sept. 16, against Collinsville.
