Firefighters are investigating after a house fire in Washington Park caused heavy damage Monday night.

The fire started in a one-story, wooden frame structure in the 1100 block of N. 43rd St., Fire Chief Sharon Davis said.

Firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes, Davis said. No one was home at the time.
