St. Louis Police make arrest in shooting death of 14-year-old Washington Park resident
A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the death of a Washington Park teenager last Saturday in St. Louis.
Timothy Lucas, 14, was found shot in the chest in the 8300 block of North Broadway Street at 6:14 p.m. on Jan. 18, St. Louis Police Officer Michelle Woodling confirmed Sunday.
When police found him, Lucas was alive, but later died at a St. Louis hospital, Woodling said.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 14-year-old boy turned himself in on Friday and was remanded to the juvenile courts system.
Details concerning the type of weapon used or motives have been made available.
A GoFundMe account has been set up in Lucas’ name to help the family cover funeral expenses.
The arrest marks another in a recent series of juveniles taken into police custody in connection with violent crimes.
On Thursday, an 16-year-old entered the St. Clair County juvenile courts system after his arrest in the robbery of a U.S. Bank branch in O’Fallon the day before.
Four teenagers, three of them under the age of 18 and two of them girls, were arrested in connection to a residential burglary on Sunday. Their arrest led to a police chase and the recovery of two stolen cars and three loaded guns.
On Dec. 30, a 13-year-old boy was found dead in the parking lot of Mason-Clark Middle School in East St. Louis. He apparently was running away from an altercation when he was shot, police said.
