Charges filed in shooting death of O’Fallon man in East St. Louis
The man police said shot and killed a 26-year-old O’Fallon man at an East St. Louis home was charged by St. Clair County state’s attorney Friday.
Danaum L. Walker Jr, 35, of St. Louis, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Malcolm Frazier, Jr., according to State’s Attorney Jim Gomric’s office.
Frazier was pronounced dead at the scene at 5 p.m., according to Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.
East St. Louis Police Chief Kendall Perry said his department was dispatched to the Alhambra Ct. residence at 4:40 p.m. and when officers arrived they discovered a victim on the front porch of a residence in the 600 block of Alhambra who had been shot and appeared to be lifeless.
It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting, nor is it known what relationship Frazier had with those who lived in the house.
Walker is being held at St. Clair County Jail on $1 million bond.
This was one of multiple shootings in East St. Louis this week. In an unrelated crime, an East St. Louis man was shot in the hand as he walked to his car, police said. That shooting is still under investigation.
