Two sought in metro-east killing. Police say they are ‘armed and dangerous’
Police are searching for two metro-east men charged with first-degree murder in connection with the recent shooting death of a Cahokia Heights teenager.
Jovon O. Hamburg, 23, of the 800 block of Church Lane in East St. Louis, was charged June 16 by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office for causing 19-year-old Quan Vaughn’s death by shooting him.
The other person charged with first-degree murder in connection to Vaughn’s death is John D. Davis Jr., 24, of the 1500 block of North 46th Street in Washington Park.
Neither Hamburg nor Davis are in custody, according to the arrest warrant.
Vaughn, who lived in the 300 block of Greystone Drive in Cahokia Heights, was shot to death June 15.
Police do not have a motive for the shooting.
Vaughn was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, where he died from the gunshot wounds he sustained.
When police officers arrived on scene in the 300 block of Greystone Drive, they found Vaughn’s body riddled with bullet wounds.
Vaughn’s death was the fourth homicide in Cahokia Heights this year, according to reports published in the Belleville News-Democrat.
“Through extensive investigative work, four weeks of non-stop investigation, following leads and electronic foot prints, and obtaining statements from several different individuals, we were able to successfully get these first-degree murder charges,” Police Chief Thomas Trice said.
“We are currently searching for these subjects to bring them in to custody. We ask that they turn themselves in to the Cahokia Heights Police Department,” Trice said.
“Both Hamburg and Davis are considered armed and dangerous,” Trice said.
“We encourage the public, if they see these individuals, to call the Cahokia Heights Police Department,” Trice said.
