A 16-year-old boy died in metro-east shooting, Major Case Squad says
A 16-year-old boy from East St. Louis was fatally shot in Madison over the weekend, the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has announced as part of its homicide investigation.
The teen’s name has not been released.
“Since the activation Saturday afternoon, detectives have pursued 48 investigative leads, many of which have provided valuable information,” the Major Case Squad said in a statement Sunday night.
After getting a call about shots fired, police found the victim’s body lying in the intersection of Washington Avenue and Wayne Lanter Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
The Major Case Squad is asking anyone who believes they have information about the incident to contact agents at 618-876-7182 or through CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
Sgt. Brent Rombach of the Wood River Police Department is deputy commander of the investigation.
Madison Police Chief Jeffrey Bridick asked the Major Case Squad to investigate the fatal shooting.
