Office seeking: Village Trustee

Are you an incumbent? No

Previous offices sought: Yes, I previously served as Village Trustee in Aviston, Illinois, around 2006.

Occupation: Senior Area Manager at Butler Manufacturing Company

Education: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Construction Technology

Please list the highlights of your civic involvement: I have served as president of the Aviston Community Improvement Club and adjutant to the Sons of the American Legion Post 1239. I am also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Why are you running? I’m tired of government taking and taking with little to show for it. We must stop out-of-control spending on unnecessary projects and focus on current infrastructure issues such as streets, drainage and sidewalks. This is especially crucial in today’s economic climate.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? Fiscal Accountability. Elected officials should be held accountable for what is done with tax dollars. During these unprecedented times we need to be even more judicious with how tax dollars are spent. Prioritization of projects is crucial. Review of necessary versus unnecessary projects needs done to ensure we are fiscally responsible with tax dollars. The last thing we want to do is add to the financial burden that many Illinois families are facing.

Why should people vote for you? My beliefs are my sticking points, and I’ll fight for them through thick and thin.

  • We must hold the line on taxes! With today’s economic uncertainty, raising taxes and unnecessary project expenditures isn’t the answer.

  • Your local government works for you and should always remain transparent and honest.

  • Quality of life should never be sacrificed. New Baden is a wonderful community that I’m proud to call home, but we can do better. There are many pressing issues with our roads, drainage and sidewalks that need addressed before we take on less urgent/more expensive non-essential projects.

  • I will always be available to listen to residents’ suggestions and concerns.

This year is pivotal. Hold the line on taxes and spending or continue to pay more and see less. There is no grey area.
