Why are you running? I have dedicated 35 years of my life to serving this community. For more than half my life I have worked for the people of this City. I am ready to retire from law enforcement, but not ready to quit working for the people and community that I have grown to love over the years. This is my home, I want to continue to do my part to make Mascoutah a wonderful place to call home for myself and every resident of this City. I am running for this position with no hidden or premeditated agenda. I come into this position to help make Mascoutah a City that is financially strong, able to upgrade our infrastructure and bring more economic growth. I hope that we can continue to make Mascoutah a wonderful place to live and do business.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? After listening to and speaking with the residents of Mascoutah over the years two main issues continue to arise as the most important. The first issue is our high power bills which is in part due to the Fuel Usage Fee added to our power bills each month. I would do my part to be a voice for the people and see what can be done to address this issue and see if money can be saved for the citizens. Research would have to be done, but I would definitely look at the issue and see what can be done to help. This issue affects every citizen of Mascoutah. The second issue I hear most about is the drainage issue in certain parts of our city. This has been an issue that has plagued our city for years. Some of the drainage issues we have is due to the high water table in Mascoutah. The other issue is the age of the drainage systems we have in place in certain parts of town. I would review the Master Street Plan the city has to see what is already being planned. If the current drainage issues are not in the master plan, I would see what steps need to be taken and see what needs to be done to allocate the money needed. It would most likely be a process that would take some time due to expenses and planning, but it is definitely an issue worth tackling. We can apply for grants etc., but we must thoroughly review our budget and consider any areas that might hold money that could be used more appropriately. We must look for ways to improve and maintain our budget, without adding additional expenses on the shoulders of our residents who pay their fair share and “more” of taxes and expenses that help to determine our spending and investments in the future for our community. I am interested to see where the other candidates stand on this issue since it takes three of five members of the council/mayor to get something done on this issue.

Why should people vote for you? After I got out of the United States Army, I moved to Mascoutah and have called it home ever since. I have lived in and worked for Mascoutah for nearly 35 years. I raised my family here and my kids went to school here. I believe that over the years of interacting with citizens of Mascoutah that I have a pulse on the community as a whole. I have had many conversations with residents in regard to issues in our City. I want to work as a team with other members of this Council to make this City a warm and welcoming place for anyone who wants to make Mascoutah their home for living or business. If elected, I promise to be honest in my actions and in my approach to issues. I would be a representative and a voice for all of the people, not a champion of political agendas with a narrow perspective. I would be able to dedicate my time and energy into my service as a Council member since I will retire from law enforcement. I will approach this position with integrity and a broad spectrum of what is in the best interest of the overall community now and in future plans.I will be your voice... I ask for your Vote for Mascoutah City Council. Thank you.
