Please list the highlights of your civic involvement: Coached my kids soccer, baseball and softball teams for 18 years. Smithton Athletic Association member for 12 years, three years as Treasurer and two years as President. Smithton Grade School booster club member for nine years. Freeburg High School booster club member for 10 years. Smithton Turner Hall member for 15 years and Smithton Commercial member for one year.
Why are you running? Serving the people of Smithton has been an honor. After serving the Village of Smithton as a Trustee for four years, I have gained the knowledge to make educated decisions for supporting our community. I have enjoyed serving on the Finance and Park committees and Chairman of the Police Committee. I would like to continue to serve the people of Smithton and help keep Smithton a great place to live and raise a family.
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? The top issue in this race as well as other small communities is fiscal responsibility. Smithton elected officials must generate a budget that is conservative as well as realistic. This must be completed as a whole board with many checks and balances during the fiscal year. I would encourage all committee heads to have an active role in this process.
Why should people vote for you? Voters should vote for me because I am prepared to overcome the issues that Smithton may face during these challenging times. I have gained experience during my four years as Trustee in strategic thinking and leadership skills that will benefit the Village of Smithton.
