Are these the cutest cats in Illinois? Vote now in our cat photo contest!
Voting is now open for the News-Democrat’s contest to find the cutest cat in Illinois.
Three felines are up for the title, so we’ll have just one round of voting to crown our winner.
Readers may vote, using the feature below, as many times as they wish by refreshing the page. Our polling isn’t scientific — it’s just for fun.
Voting will be open until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. We’ll announce the winner Monday, Nov. 3.
Some of the pets’ fun facts had to be shortened in the poll. Here’s what to know about the three kitty contestants:
- Spritz belongs to Jacob Lanter and lives in Freeburg. Spritz is a 15-year-old Siamese-tortoise shell mixed breed cat. Her hobbies include sunbathing, wrestling with her toy rat and collecting town gossip — which she will share with you for a favor.
- Roxy belongs to Rita Winkeler and lives in Belleville. She’s is a 5-year-old Maine Coon who drinks first from her paws and loves to play fetch with her mouse toy, Penelope.
- Archie belongs to Louise Morgan and lives in Belleville and is a 1-year-old domestic shorthair. Archie has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which means his body doesn’t produce enough collagen so his skin is like tissue paper. Morgan said Archie wears shirts to protect his skin, so he’s the best-dressed cat in town!
The winner of our contest will appear in a news story on Bnd.com and move on to a nationwide round this fall to find the cutest pets across McClatchy News’ U.S. market.
In our 2024 cutest dog photo contest, a husky/pomeranian mix puppy named Zoey took the crown, with more than 2,200 votes in the contest’s final round.
