Coroner IDs man shot and killed in East St. Louis
A 49-year-old East St. Louis man was shot and killed last week near Lincoln Park, according to the St. Louis City Medical Examiner’s Office.
Edwin Cook Sr. moved from Pine Bluff, Arkansas to East St. Louis in October 2016, his sister Shuronde Jones told the BND.
Cook was on active parole in Illinois when he was shot around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South 15th Street and Piggott Avenue near Lincoln Park.
He leaves behind Jones, his brother Brian Jones, his father Jesse Muldrow and his four adult children.
His sister said Cook always wore his Arkansas driver’s license around his neck; however, she said the medical examiner’s office told his family that he was not found with his ID.
She added that police have not contacted Cook’s family regarding their investigation.
East St. Louis police officials did not immediately return BND’s calls for comment.
