Fairview Heights motorcyclist succumbs to injuries after crash

A 32-year-old man passed away after a BMW motorcycle he was driving was involved in a crash in Fairview Heights.

Fairview Heights Police Department identified the motorcyclist on Monday as Jorge J. Marles, of Fairview Heights. Marles was transported to Memorial Hospital and then flown to St. Louis University Hospital after the crash occurred last Wednesday between the motorcycle and a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 19-year-old woman. Marles died at the hospital on Thursday, according to Fairview Heights Officer James Mason.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Impala did not yield the right-of-way when making a left turn onto Sullivan Drive, also known as Union Hill Road, from Frank Scott Parkway. The driver, identified as Darriel Clayton, was cited for failing to yield, according to police.
