Official opening date announced for long-awaited Belleville restaurant
It’s official!
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurant in Belleville opens Tuesday!
A release from the Freddy’s public relations team stated the restaurant will open March 7.
“The area surrounding our newest location has a steady flow of traffic and is home to a wide variety of retail businesses and restaurants, making it a great fit for Freddy’s,” Ben Simon, senior VP of corporate operations, stated in the release.
“We’re excited to enter this dynamic neighborhood and bring delicious, craveable menu items to the surrounding businesses and residents.”
The Belleville Crossing location seats 74 customers with additional patio seating and has drive-thru service, stated the release.
Orders can be placed via the Freddy’s App and website.
And if that’s not exciting enough, the location will celebrate the opening with a guest giveaway contest.
The first 500 guests to use the Freddy’s App will be entered for a chance to win Freddy’s for a year, according to the release.
Plans to build a Freddy’s location in Belleville were approved by the city in December 2021.
The original target opening date for December 2022 was pushed back “due to supply chain issues causing a delay in shipment for some equipment,” wrote Kim Huynh, a member of Freddy’s public relations team, in an Oct. 24 email to the News-Democrat.
Huynh later wrote in a Feb. 21 email to the News-Democrat that barring additional delays, the restaurant was on track to open March 7.

Wichita, Kansas-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers was co-founded in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon and friend and business partner Scott Redler, according to its website. The restaurant is named after the Simon brothers’ father, Freddy Simon, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 2020.
Other area locations include restaurants at 3320 Green Mount Crossing in Shiloh, 301 N. Bluff Road in Collinsville, and 2204 Troy Road in Edwardsville.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is located at 5570 Belleville Crossing St., Belleville.
Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
