Tasty Bowl Stirfry & Sushi in Fairview Heights is temporarily closed.

Sean Lin, who opened Tasty Bowl last June, said the restaurant at 51 Lincoln Highway is undergoing a remodel to accommodate a new all-you-can-eat sushi concept.

A sign at the entrance states that due to “internal adjustment,” the restaurant is closed as of May 1 and will reopen around May 15.

Along with the remodel and concept change, comes a name change. A new sign heralding “Takumi: All In One Eatery,” was recently installed outside the building.

The changes come after struggles to compete with Yummy Bowl Mongolian Stir-Fry & Sushi, a similar concept restaurant in O’Fallon, Lin said.

The changes were not previously known by the city, according to Dallas Alley, land use and development director.

The city and CBL Properties, which owns the property and was also unaware of the development, are currently investigating, Alley said.
