St. Clair County offering Moderna, Johnson & Johnson booster shots at multiple locations
People who want Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots now have multiple options in St. Clair County.
The county is now offering the booster doses for those two vaccines — as well as Pfizer and third doses — from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays at the 330 West Main Street location in Belleville.
Health Department Director Myla Blandford said during Wednesday’s weekly briefing that appointments are strongly encouraged but not required.
Additionally, the Belle Clair Fairgrounds & Expo Center in Belleville continues to serve as a drive-thru mass vaccination site for first, second, booster, or third doses. The location is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, with the last available drive up appointment at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, the fairgrounds offered the Moderna booster, and Blandford noted the large turnout.
“Due to the positive response we received we are almost at max capacity for both appointments and drive-ups (for Wednesday),” she said Wednesday afternoon.
Here is the upcoming schedule at the fairgrounds:
- Thursday, Oct. 28: Johnson & Johnson
- Tuesday, Nov. 2: Pfizer
- Wednesday, Nov. 3: Moderna
- Thursday, Nov 4: Pfizer
“We offer one type of vaccine a day at the fairgrounds. You can get your first, second, booster or your third dose — whatever you need for that day,” Blandford said.
Also, Blandford said they will have a small amount of flu vaccine free to the public next week in conjunction with the COVID vaccine.
“The flu vaccine will be first come first serve. Once we’re out for the day, we will announce it on social media and our website. So please check back for that information,” Blandford said.
Upcoming vaccine clinic
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. will host a vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Mary Brown Center, 606 S. 15th St., East St. Louis.
This will include the first, second and booster doses of Pfizer, Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Open to all and free. No appointment required.
