O’Fallon doubles duo shows well at state tennis tournament

O’Fallon High School tennis stars Isabel Wells and Natalia Spihlman recently enjoyed a successful stint at the IHSA state tournament in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

In their first match, the doubles team had to play the 3-4 seed and, according to Panthers coach Erin Thoman, “played a very competitive second set with them. That team went on to finish in the top 8 in doubles in state.”

Wells and Spihlman won their second match in three sets, “which was great!” Thoman added.

All in all, the performances from Wells and Spihlman pleased Thoman.

“The Class 2A state tennis tourney is loaded with lots of great players and being able to get a win is good,” she said. “Congratulations to Isabel and Nat on great seasons!! Awesome job and way to go!”
