Teens charged in killing of Fairview Heights 18-year-old
Two suspects have been charged in connection to the shooting death of 18-year-old Kameron J. Dorsey in Fairview Heights earlier this month.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis announced Dominic Wilbourn, 18, of the 500 block of Big Bend Boulevard in Swansea, and Danayeous M. Macon, 18, of St. Louis, have been charged with one count of first-degree murder. Wilbourn is being held at St. Clair County Jail on a $500,000 bond and Macon is at the St. Louis County Justice Center in Clayton on $1 million bond.
Fairview Heights Police responded to a call at 8:40 p.m. last Wednesday to Lakeland Hills Drive, where Dorsey was found inside the garage dead from gunshot wounds.
According to police, the pair were invited to Dorsey’s home, then plotted to rob him. At some point, several rounds were fired at Dorsey. One of the suspects were acquainted with Dorsey, though police did not specify which one.
“This was not a random act of violence,” the Major Case Squad said through a statement.
Marquita Mitchell, Dorsey’s mother, said she heard the gunshots as they were fired last week. When her son didn’t respond to her calls, she ran to the garage, which Dorsey used as a place to exercise and listen to music. She found the teenager on the floor.
Mitchell said her son was fun-loving and popular. He played football in high school but was forced to quit when he was diagnosed with epilepsy, she said.
“This killing has to stop. It’s destroying families, and young people are destroying each other. This just has to stop,” Mitchell said.
