Teens charged with murder planned to rob Fairview Heights 18-year-old, police say

The two 18-year-olds charged in Kameron J. Dorsey’s murder came to his Fairview Heights home last week with a plan to rob him, investigators said Wednesday.

While they were at his family’s Lakeland Hills Drive home, one of the suspects shot 18-year-old Dorsey multiple times, Jim Krummrich, of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, said during a press conference. He didn’t say which suspect is accused of firing the gun.

Dominic Wilbourn, of Swansea, and Danayeous M. Macon, of St. Louis, have each been charged with first-degree murder.

Krummrich said that Dorsey invited Wilbourn and Macon to his house “to socialize.”

“One of the subjects involved was an acquaintance. The exact duration of that, I don’t know,” Krummrich said.

Wilbourn’s attorney John Baricevic declined to comment. Court records didn’t list an attorney for Macon as of Wednesday.

The Fairview Heights Police Department received a 911 call about the shooting at about 8:40 p.m. Feb. 19, according to the agency. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been helping to investigate the homicide.

Dorsey’s mother Marquita Mitchell told the Belleville News-Democrat that she heard the gunshots that night. When her son didn’t answer her calls to him, she went to the garage he used as a gym and a place to listen to music. Mitchell found her son on the floor.

“This killing has to stop,” Mitchell said. “It’s destroying families, and young people are destroying each other. This just has to stop.”
