Please list the highlights of your civic involvement: The highlight of my civic involvement has been coaching the OTHS 203 Mock Trial team. It has been a privilege to work with our bright and diligent students as they learn the ins and outs of trial advocacy.
Why are you running? I am running to address the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and to support OTHS 203’s strong educational programs. I look forward to contributing my legal skills and passion for community service to the OTHS 203 team.
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?The COVID-19 pandemic has presented the most significant challenge ever faced by United States public education system. While remote learning was necessary to keep our community safe, the negative impacts of prolonged remote learning has caused substantial learning deficits for all students .I will build on OTHS’ strong educational programs and provide additional support for students to combat learning loss in the 2021-2022 school year and beyond. I will advocate for additional in-person instruction time, high stakes testing support and tutoring, career and college placement support, and summer school programs. I will also support credit recovery programs to ensure that our students who struggled during the remote learning period will graduate on-time.
Why should people vote for you? As an attorney who started his career in education law, I am the only school board candidate with a specific background in public education law. I know the legal hurtles that the District faces and how to address them efficiently and effectively. However, I believe my best attribute to be an OTHS 203 School Board member is my passion for community service and my unshakable belief in the value of a public education. With your vote on April 6, 2021, I hope to join the OTHS 203 School Board to have the opportunity to serve the O’Fallon community.
