Please list highlights of your civic involvement: Founded civic non-partisan engagement organization on SWIC Campus Dreams of Democracy. Have worked with in St. Clair County organizations, community organizing for City of East St. Louis. Case management with Illinois Department of Corrections to find resources within the area to reduce the chances of prisoners returning to prison. Mentor and lead worker for Community Youth Employment Program to help youth find and maintain jobs for career development.
Why are you running? I am a new candidate and have no desire to be a politician and only wish to serve. I believe that politics has become more about the politician than those they wish to serve. I believe my experience working as a social worker and community organizer has given me the chance to understand people. I will always make self available to listen to the concerns of the citizens of our village. I want to show my children that if you care enough and work hard at something, you can do whatever you want in your community!
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? Lack of diversity. I will work outside of the box to address issues such as a lack of understanding of how village works, the cost of trash stickers and infrastructure issues in certain areas.
Why should people vote for you? I am a new candidate and have no desire to be a politician and only wish to serve. I believe that politics has become more about the politician than those they wish to serve. I believe my experience working as a social worker and community organizer has given me the chance to understand people. I will always make self available to listen to the concerns of the citizens of our village despite their political affiliations, economic stature. I wish to be a servant.The same reasons I am running is the same reason, I would love the support of voters. In short I am community oriented, I have integrity, and I wish to generate, manage and promote diversity by bringing a new perspective to our Village Hall.
