The Belleville News-Democrat has built a database that includes all of the details health departments in southwestern Illinois have released about coronavirus patients to date.
Many public health officials in the state have followed the Illinois Department of Public Health’s lead in releasing each patient’s county, age range and gender.
Some local officials have chosen to release few details other than the number of new cases to protect the identities of their patients in smaller communities, including Randolph County.
And some communities have released fewer demographic details about each patient over time as the number of cases grew.
In late March, Madison and Clinton counties started releasing generalized data instead, such as a gender breakdown and age range for all of the cases in those communities.
In early April, officials in St. Clair and Randolph counties started releasing the zip codes where people who have tested positive for COVID-19 live.
Generalized data for all cases, including zip codes, is not reflected in the BND’s database. Check your health department’s Facebook page for that information.
The BND will continue to update the database daily as new information about individual patients is announced. Check BND.com for the latest details.
